Effective January 1, 2022, Geoff will the firm's first Board Chair, responsible for overseeing firm vision, strategic planning, external communication, and community interface. Geoff began his career in public accounting in 2003, while an intern at a regional accounting firm. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Geoff was able to further his education with on-the-job work experience as a staff accountant at his family’s glass business in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In 2004, he joined D&S as an intern and quickly advanced in his career. In January 2009, Geoff became the youngest managing associate at D&S and, in January 2012, became a shareholder. He splits his time between the Philadelphia and Scranton D&S offices, and he serves on the firm's Executive Committee.
Providing accounting, tax compliance and business consulting services to a broad base of clients, Geoff has worked with closely held businesses and their owners, partnerships, consolidated corporations, individuals, and tax-exempt entities, including private foundations. He frequently works with clients in the real estate and private equity industries and has developed a focus in partnership taxation and tax due diligence for M&A transactions. Geoff also represents family-owned businesses serving the construction, retail, and distribution industries. He frequently advises family businesses relative to key personnel, succession and wealth planning, estate planning, acquisition due diligence, and business exit planning.
As an integral part of their financial planning team, Geoff frequently advises executives and high-net-worth individuals on the tax impact of their investments and other holdings. He is well versed in the process and preparation of the IRS’s Global High-Wealth audits.
Geoff has a great deal of experience providing tax solutions for the real estate industry. He has managed an engagement for a publicly traded REIT. Other real estate experience includes managing the tax function for large real estate clients (including state and local tax planning) and advising real estate managers, developers and investors on various tax matters.
Outside of real estate, Geoff works closely with professional athletes and entertainers as a lead of the firm’s Professional Athletes, & Artists Practice Group, managing the unique and complex tax and financial planning matters they often encounter. He has experience working in the international arena including assisting clients with outbound foreign transactions and working with multi-national distributors and manufacturers. Geoff also has expertise advising businesses on multi-state tax planning for income and sales & use tax.
Geoff received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Temple University, where he majored in accounting and finance and graduated magna cum laude. He received a Master of Taxation degree from the Villanova Law School Graduate Tax Program. He is a member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants.
Born and raised in Scranton, Geoff resides in Center City, Philadelphia, with his wife, Rachel, and their two children. Geoff is a member of The Racquet Club of Philadelphia and is a board trustee of the Scranton Preparatory School. He also serves on the WHYY Community Advisory Board.
Geoff and his family enjoy traveling to Italy where they take pleasure in the history, culture, and gastronomy of Italy’s diverse regions.
