Karolyn Banks and Pukhama Demosthenes Speakers at Financial Literacy Seminar

On Thursday June 24, 2010 Managing Associate Karolyn Banks and Associate Pukhama Demosthenes presented the “Money Tips to Reuse and Recycle” financial literacy program to Philadelphia High School students enrolled in a paid internship program with the Philadelphia Youth Network. Karolyn and Pukhama, both members of the PICPA, volunteered to speak to these high school students to educate them on the basic financial principals needed in preparation for their paid internships.

The PICPA’s financial literacy program was held on the Thomas Jefferson University campus and showed students how to write out their financial goals, create a budget, and correct a budget that had been overspent. Members were also able to enlighten students on what types of taxes get taken out of their weekly paychecks and the importance of paying themselves first by depositing funds into a savings account.
