If you have contributed to the relief efforts or are considering making a donation, congress has approved legislation to allow any contributions made for this purpose between January 12 and February 28, 2010 to be includable as an itemized deduction on your 2009 income tax return. If you have already filed your 2009 income tax return, you may amend to include these contributions. Be sure to keep proof of your contribution(s).
